Navigate, observe and discover

Explore channels surrounded by mangrove roots and vegetation. Your guide will introduce this coastal forest and its role in protecting shorelines and providing refuge for wildlife.

You may encounter crocodiles, caimans, monkeys, iguanas, herons, kingfishers and crabs. Every outing is different and wildlife sightings are not guaranteed.

Timing and meeting point

Schedule: 7:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. Duration: 7 hours. Meet in Drake Bay at the location provided when booking.

Routes and times may vary with tides and weather conditions.

Low difficulty: nature from the boat

The experience takes place mainly by boat and does not require long walks. Tell us before confirming if your group needs boarding assistance or any adaptation.

What to bring

• Lightweight comfortable clothes, sunscreen, insect repellent and a hat.
• Reusable water bottle, camera and binoculars if you have them.
• Waterproof bag to protect devices and belongings from splashes.

Additional expenses and caring for the environment

Personal expenses and any additional services outside the programme are paid separately. The boat outing and specialist guide are already included.

Observe without feeding or disturbing wildlife, follow your guide’s instructions and keep waste out of the water and mangroves.

Plan your visit

Start with your date, participants and contact details. After checking availability, the team will request the details needed to arrange your booking. No passport is needed in the initial enquiry.

Combine mangroves with Sirena or an Overnight stay to experience different environments of the Osa Peninsula. Each outing has its own availability and arrangements.

Payment and cancellations

No deposit is required. Full payment is due the day before the tour. If you cancel at least 24 hours before departure, there is no penalty and any payment received is refunded. Cancellations less than 24 hours before departure are non-refundable. Date changes are arranged with our team subject to availability.

For tours outside Corcovado, if the operator cancels before the activity starts because of unsafe weather, you can choose another date subject to availability. If the new date does not suit you, unprovided services are refunded, excluding non-refundable entrance fees disclosed before payment.
